Tall fir trees, rustic farmhouses, hearty food – the Black Forest is renowned for its diverse landscape and culinary specialities. The popular holiday region in southwest Germany is also rich in tradition and history.

Green Baden: Karlsruhe and the Black Forest
The Black Forest is predominantly situated in the Baden district of the German federal state, which was founded in 1952. The regional exhibition "Baden! 900 years", which is open from 16th July to 11th November 2011, traces the area’s development from a small margraviate to a liberal "Musterländle" or model region. A three-day trip including a museum visit and accommodation in the Black Forest is available from 149 euros per person, not including bus transfers. Tel. 0721 3720 5390, www.baden2012.de
